Gamesa Induction has been awarded two new projects for icebreaker programs in North America, reinforcing its position as a trusted supplier of electric propulsion solutions for demanding marine applications.
As Arctic operations continue to expand, the need for robust, reliable and efficient vessels capable of operating in extreme environments is growing. In this context, Gamesa Induction will contribute to two landmark programs in Canada and the United States.
In Canada, the company will supply electric motors for a fleet of Multi-Purpose Icebreakers (MPI). Designed for year-round operation, these vessels will support a wide range of critical missions, including icebreaking, maritime navigation assistance, environmental response and coast guard services.
In the United States, Gamesa Induction has been selected to provide thruster motors for a new icebreaker program. These vessels are being designed to operate in some of the world’s most challenging maritime conditions, with the capability to break through up to 1.2 metres of continuous ice, remain at sea for more than 60 days and travel up to 12,000 nautical miles without resupply.
These awards reflect the confidence that leading shipbuilders and operators place in Gamesa Induction technology for mission-critical applications, where performance, efficiency and reliability are essential.
By supporting these projects, Gamesa Induction continues to expand its footprint in the global marine sector, delivering electric propulsion solutions engineered to perform in the harshest operating conditions.
